Wigmore High School Reunion (Class of 1989): Latest news

01.01.07

OK, so it has taken me a while to get them all together and up on the website, but at least it was done on the first day of 2007. Hope that you have all had a good Christmas and New Year.

Enjoy the photos, and remember if you want to have a copy of the photo just click on it to get a large version and then right click with the mouse and 'save target as' and then you can save the image on your PC. All the best for 2007, Rob.

BBC Hereford & WorcesterAs mentioned on BBC Hereford & Worcester, during Katie Johnson's show! If you are quick you can listen to the show again on the bbc website. Katie Interviewed Rob about the reunion, and gave us quite a lot of time on air. We are still trying to get in contact with a few more people who we have not yet managed to find. If you do want to come along on Nov 18th, or if you are in contact with someone who went to Wigmore in 1989 please get in touch.

Only 4 weeks to go!

15/10/06

Only 5 weeks to go until the Wigmore School Class of 1989 Reunion on Sat 18 Nov 2006 ! Hope that you are looking forward to it.

sorry but we made a misjudgment on the ticket cost. We actually need to charge £15 per head for the evening do, instead of £12. Part of the reason is that the numbers are going to be lower that we first predicted. Some people, who would otherwise have come, cannot make it because of prior commitments. Another reason is that the cost of hiring the disco equipment and sourcing the music is slightly higher than we thought. Also, we are going to make a donation to Wigmore School as a gesture of thanks for allowing us to have a tour of the school.

The ticket cost of £15 per head includes hot food, a disco and a share of the donation to the school. Drinks will be extra. Book taxis and bring plenty of cash because Martin , the landlord at the Mortimers Cross, says that the bar will remain open while we are still spending!

Contact us if you need to know where to send the money.

If you know of anyone that would like to come to the do but might struggle to pay for the tickets, let Rob or I know in confidence and we will try to sort that out. We don't want anything to prevent anyone who wants to come being there on 18 Nov.

Music

Obviously we all have our own favourite tunes from 1989 and around that time. Bros still hold a very special place in my heart, for example. (Only joking – honest.) We are doing our best to find the best tracks from that era to play during the evening.

If you have any favorites that mean that the evening won't be complete for you unless they are played, let us know and we will try to get hold of them. Alternatively, bring your CDs on the night and my brother Charlie will play them for you.

Guest List

We now have 38 people confirmed for the evening do. That includes 16 ex-Wigmore boys and 8 ex-Wigmore girls. So we could do with some more girls please!!

Some people are only able to make it during the day, because of prior engagements. So there will be more of us in the afternoon. It is shaping up to be a really good day.

We have put together a rough outline of the day for the reunion - so you can see What's Happening.

Check it out, but basically we will meet up in the afternoon at the school. In the evening we will have a bit of a party at the Mortimer's Cross Inn. There is also a special offer for people who need to find a place to stay the night.

Outline of the Wigmore reunion day

11/9/06

It is only just over 2 months now until the Reunion on 18 Nov 2006. Things now need to be booked, so can you please confirm to us if you are going to able to attend, and that you are willing to contribute to it.

We have booked Mr Earl and the headmaster to show us around the school from 2.00pm - pointing out all the changes to the school and what still there from our time.

We will then have a drink together at the Mortimers Cross Inn pub, and then later on we will meet up again at Mortimer's Cross for a buffet meal and disco (Charlie Wilson will be the DJ - flying in all the way from Scotland!

A few of us met up to chat about the reunion on Saturday 13th May. This photo is evidence!

The date of the reunion is fixed as Saturday 18 November 2006 . The venue is still to be confirmed, partly because we need to know numbers, but will be as close to Wigmore as possible. We are thinking of getting together in the daytime – probably the afternoon – and hopefully we can have a tour around the school. We think kids should be able to join in during the day. Then in the evening we'll have a bit of food, some drinks and maybe a bit of a boogie to some 1980s music. We assume that the evening do will just be us and partners (with the kids tucked up in bed!). Let us know what you think.

We are now in contact with 33 people out of a total of 58. So we are doing well but need to keep going. This is the list of people that we still have no contact with:

  • Christian Carpenter
  • Stuart Clement
  • Clive Hardwick
  • Adam Hargreaves
  • Carl Howard
  • Barry John
  • Greg Luchford
  • Brett Pittam
  • John Ruell

  • Anne Hollings
  • Sally Jennings
  • Helen Jones
  • Susan Jones
  • MaryJane Lane
  • Sophie Leach
  • Catherine Rickard
  • Maria Stinton

If you can get in contact with anyone on the list, please tell them about the reunion and ask them to email us.
